PULLED JACKFRUIT BURGER
Jackfruit is highly rated as a meat substitute in terms of flavour and texture. It can be bought tinned or fresh, but cutting it up is time-consuming. The flesh, which absorbs the flavour of spices, sauces and marinades particularly well, is an ideal substitute for pulled pork. The pieces of fruit are ‘plucked’ with the fingers or broken into small pieces with a fork, marinated for at least 30 minutes together with diced onions and other flavourful ingredients, and cooked for 10 to 15 minutes in the grill tray.
