Mirrors – Möbel Ehrmann

Mirrors for your home – from modern designs to functional highlights

A mirror is one of those pieces of furniture that serves a clear purpose in almost every room: in the hallway, it allows you to take a final look in the mirror before leaving the house; in the bathroom, it aids with your daily grooming routine; and in the living room or bedroom, it adds a decorative touch. At Möbel Ehrmann, we stock a wide selection of mirrors in various shapes, sizes and styles – from classic rectangular models and round designs to backlit versions with warm LED lighting. If you have any questions about our range, we’d be happy to advise you in person at one of our showrooms.

A variety of mirrors: Which mirror suits which room?

Every living space has its own requirements when it comes to mirrors – both in terms of function and design.

Mirrors in the hallway and entrance hall

In the entrance hall, a mirror serves two purposes at once: it allows you to check your outfit before leaving the house and makes narrow hallways appear much more spacious. Particularly in dimly lit hallways, a large wall mirror can bring extra brightness into the room by reflecting daylight and lamplight. You’ll find matching coat rack furniture and further ideas for the entrance hall in our category for hallway furniture and coat racks.

Bathroom mirrors

In the bathroom, functionality comes first. A bathroom mirror with lighting ensures that grooming and make-up application go smoothly, even in low natural light. The colour of the light plays an important role here: neutral white between 4,000 and 5,000 Kelvin renders skin tones particularly naturally. Anti-fog mirror heating and built-in sockets noticeably enhance everyday comfort. You can find more bathroom design ideas in our bathroom furniture category.

Full-length mirrors in the bedroom

A full-length mirror is ideal for the bedroom and dressing area. Models with a height of around 160 cm or more allow you to see your entire figure, from head to toe. Free-standing mirrors with tiltable frames can be adjusted to different viewing angles, whilst fixed wall-mounted mirrors save floor space. If you’d like to combine a mirror with storage space, you’ll find suitable solutions in our range of bedroom furniture and wardrobes.

Wall-mounted mirrors or free-standing mirrors – which is right for you?

The choice between a wall-mounted mirror and a free-standing mirror depends on the size of the room, how it will be used and the available space. Both options have their advantages and are suitable for different living situations.

A wall mirror utilizes vertical space without occupying any floor space. This makes it particularly suitable for smaller rooms, narrow hallways and bathrooms. Large wall mirrors measuring 80 × 120 cm or more create an illusion of depth and can brighten up dark areas. When installing the mirror, you should bear the wall’s composition in mind: for heavier models with solid wood frames, load-bearing wall plugs or fixing into the masonry are recommended; for lightweight partition walls, special cavity wall plugs are a good choice.

Free-standing mirrors, on the other hand, offer greater flexibility. They can be moved around when the room is rearranged and do not require drilling into the wall – a practical advantage in rented flats. If you want to use a mirror as a design statement, a large floor-standing mirror in the living room can create a striking focal point. Floor-standing mirrors should be stable and tip-proof; in households with children, it’s a good idea to secure them to the wall.

Add stylish accents: mirrors in gold, black and modern designs

A mirror is also a design feature. The choice of frame, shape and finish determines whether it takes a back seat or makes a visible statement in the room. Mirrors with gold or brass-coloured frames blend well with classic and romantic-style interiors; a black mirror – for example, with a powder-coated metal frame – suits clean, modern and industrial interior designs.

Shape also plays a role: a round mirror softens the austere lines of straight-edged furniture and breaks up symmetrical arrangements. Rectangular and oval mirrors blend harmoniously into structured interior designs. Mirrors with wooden frames – whether in oak, walnut or pine – bring warmth to a room and are ideal for natural and Scandinavian interior styles. You can find matching living room furniture in our Living Room category.

When choosing a frame, it’s a good idea to use existing finishes and fittings in the room as a guide. A mirror with matt black frame profiles complements black door handles or lamp stands well; golden frame tones echo warm brass details in light fittings or accessories.

More than just glass: illuminated mirrors and smart features

Lighted mirrors are no longer used just in the bathroom. In the dressing area, bedroom or hallway, integrated LED lighting ensures even illumination that minimises shadows. This is particularly useful when the room lighting alone is insufficient, or if you value precise lighting when applying make-up or getting dressed.

When choosing illuminated bathroom mirrors, it’s worth checking the protection rating: for rooms with high humidity, you should look for models with at least IP44 protection. Dimmable light strips allow you to adjust the brightness depending on the time of day and your mood – bright and high-contrast in the morning, warm and subdued in the evening. You can find more bathroom solutions in our Bathroom Furniture and Accessories category.

Some models also come with built-in storage compartments, make-up mirror attachments or Bluetooth speakers. If you’re unsure which features suit your everyday life, we’d be happy to advise you – our interior design consultants in our showrooms will take the time to answer your questions.

Hanging mirrors: tips on installation and care

Heavy wall mirrors should be professionally installed to ensure they are securely attached to the wall. Before drilling, check whether there are any cables or pipes running through the wall – a cable detector is a simple tool for this. For solid walls, we recommend screws and wall plugs that can safely support the weight of the mirror; for plasterboard or gypsum walls, you should use hollow wall anchors or special wall anchors.

For cleaning, a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with clean water or a mild glass cleaner is usually sufficient. Abrasive or solvent-based cleaners should be avoided, as they can damage the mirror surface or the frame. Wooden frames should be treated occasionally with a suitable wood care product to preserve the material.

If you’re unsure how to install a particular model correctly, you can rely on our in-house installation teams. As a family-run business with over 30 years’ experience in the furniture trade, we rely on our own staff – so you know exactly who is working in your home.

Personal advice at Möbel Ehrmann – in-store and online

Our interior design consultants will help you narrow down your choices and tailor them to the exact dimensions of your rooms.
