The Shun chef's knife series is one of the most comprehensive Damascus knife series in the world and is very popular with professional chefs and ambitious amateur cooks. The chef's knives in the Shun series are made from a specially developed, stainless Damascus steel with 32 layers. The core of the blade is made of VG MAX steel, which is extremely corrosion-resistant and extremely hard (61±1 HRC, 1.0% carbon, 1.5% cobalt), and keeps the blade permanently sharp with appropriate care.

The convex grind of the blade and the manual honing of each Shun knife create an unrivalled sharpness that enables the knife to glide effortlessly through even the most difficult of cuts. This sharpness, combined with the balanced weight of the knives, allows for fatigue-free work.

Each Shun knife becomes a unique and individual work of art through the refinement of the natural Damascus grain, combining craftsmanship, technology and design. The technique used to produce these fine chef's knives, which originated from the Japanese art of forging samurai swords, is also adapted for the production of western blade shapes in the Shun chef's knife series.
