The innovative "photo-etching" manufacturing process specialises in producing durable and extremely sharp cutting edges.

From the woodworking shop to the kitchen

In 1994 came the big moment for Microplane: When a Canadian housewife wanted to bake an orange cake, she was frustrated with her old kitchen grater and tried out a new tool. It was the Microplane wood rasp. The blade glided over the orange so effortlessly that the housewife was simply thrilled. Her discovery that the tiny, razor-sharp blades of the wooden grater could also finely grate and slice food laid the foundation for the success of the Microplane kitchen grater.
